Matthew 22; Mark 12

Today we see the Lord speaking in parables. He spoke to teach and to confound the religious leaders who despised Him. He was actively working in the midst of the people where God had placed Him. He starts with the wedding banquet for the king's son. The invited guests disrespected the invitation and the king opened the invitation to the common people. We see where one showed up without showing honor to the king by not wearing wedding clothes. This shows us to bring honor to God by respecting what He has done in our lives by doing things His way and not enjoy the benefits of His gift while no adjustments on our part are made.

They made plans to trap our Lord by saying;
22:17Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
18But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, "You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius, 20and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?"
21"Caesar's," they replied. Then he said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." (NIV)
Every Hebrew boy clearly understood that were made in God's image and should give their life to Him.
Jesus answered many questions such as marriage in the resurrection asked by the Sadducees who do not believe in the resurrection. Jesus says they will be like the angels in heaven. I believe we will not be concerned with such stuff. We will be completely devoted to fellowship and service for God and the place in heaven He assigns us. The Lord has plans for us during that time.
He then taught on the greatest commandment. Since the Father and Son are one, loving God includes loving the Son. Love God, love people. This command to be obeyed. When we do we can then see the Lord at work. In Mark 12:42 Jesus asked "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" (NIV) We must all answer that question. Getting that question right and applying His teachings according to the gift given us is the most important thing we will ever do.
