In Matthew 12 Jesus heals a man of a demon and the Pharisees tried to say He must be doing it by Beelzebub prince of demons. Jesus said a city or household divided against itself will not stand, that a good tree bears good fruit and that out of the mouth comes the overflow of the heart. He said by their words they would be acquitted or condemned. He also said who does not gather with me scatters. If we are not actually working with the body of Christ He considers to be us scattering. We are either following His will and plan or our own. That takes us away from what He would have us do. He went further and said whoever does the will of my father is my brother, sister and mother.
In Luke 11 He teaches us to pray. He teaches us to ask, seek and knock. We are to pray expecting God to answer. We are to repent (vs 32) so that judgment will not come and that our eyes are important. They are the lamps to bring light into our body. He then gives warnings to the Pharisees because their life was empty spiritually even though they had a knowledge of God but were filled with greed, wickedness, sought the praise of men. They caused others to stumble under the burden of rules and law and would not lift a finger to help them. Instead of repenting, they opposed him and besieged Him with questions. How will we respond to our Lord? Our response to His teaching is key and will make all the difference in our walk with Him.
