Acts Challenge Chapter 5

Acts Challenge day 5. Wow! How many people do we see die for deceit? The power of God is real and we are challenged to be bold in our following and let God handle the outcome, and oh yes, rejoice for any associated persecution because it is an honor to suffer as our Lord did. This all throws a big hole in the prosperity Gospel sham. Do we find it important do serve God every day? Read this chapter prayerfully and see what God says about it ;)

A very dramatic and powerful example indeed! It's amazing how even though Ananias and Sapphira were living in the middle of a great church body, greed managed to find it's way into their hearts. It serves as a good warning to us who might think that since we are serving God, satan can't reach us... we are fallen beings and subject to that reality.

I love vs. 20... in my translation, "Life" is capitalized... showing the importance of our new life through the salvation of Jesus Christ, and giving the impression that this life in Christ is not just any life, but is different from any earthly life.

then in vs. 29, Peter states the obvious that we often forget, "We must obey God rather than men." Straight to the point.

I thought the discussion among the church leaders was interesting... if they had only listened to their own words they could have seen that Jesus Christ was not like other men claiming to be something they are not... but oh how satan blinded their eyes.

and finally, we see at the end of the chapter how the men rejoice at being able to suffer for Christ. They do not see it as something they must do, but something they GET to do, a privilege. I wonder how we would live if we considered suffering for Christ a privilege to be gained?
