Isaiah 30-31; Mark 7:14-37

In Isaiah 30 we encounter a nation of stubborn people. 1 "Woe to the obstinate children," declares the LORD, "to those who carry out plans that are not mine, forming an alliance, but not by my Spirit, heaping sin upon sin... 9 These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord's instruction. 10 They say to the seers, "See no more visions!" and to the prophets, "Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. 11 Leave this way, get off this path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!" 9 These are rebellious people, deceitful children, children unwilling to listen to the Lord's instruction. 10 They say to the seers, "See no more visions!" and to the prophets, "Give us no more visions of what is right! Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions.
Any time we want God to compromise to please us, we are in danger of God's stern correction. He is still God and we should always remember to fear and be in awe of Him and His majesty. That's what happens when we take God down from being first (boss) in our life and pursue our own way. We would rather walk in deceit and not deal with truth. The problem is that it is truth that transforms lives. We want it both ways. We want our way and want our way to be considered the right way. We have to come to terms with there is only one correct answer and one Lord. God knows what He is doing and the Lord has a plan for the abundant life that brings real freedom. He loves us and will carry out His plan as we submit and ask for His input , then get up and follow Him. 18 Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
